I continue to be amazed at the ever-increasing instances of inconsiderate behavior exhibited by the neighbors in Mayfair, Philadelphia.  It's getting to the point that you can't even look forward to spring weather and having your windows open.  So sad!

I'm not talking about the occasional evening party or children playing outside or any other situation that you'd expect to encounter when you live in a neighborhood of row townhomes.  I'm talking about the lack of thoughtfulness and the sense of entitlement that more and more people seem to display.  These are the most frequent and annoying offenses:

  1. Dogs - left outside contstantly to bark at all times of the day and night.

  2. Leafblowers, lawnmowers, weedwackers and all manner of LOUD tools being used incessantly - even in the very early hours of the morning - exactly how much grooming does your 15' x 15' lawn need anyway??

  3. Walkie-talkie phones - walking the street and sitting outside constantly chattering on these things so loudly you'd think they were using a string and two cans to communicate!  

Why doesn't anyone consider whether or not their behavior might bother someone else or inhibit someone else's "quiet enjoyment" of his/her property??

Can't take the noise, move to a quieter place, pally.  You can act like everyone is a jerk and doing this to be annoying, but it's just life in the city: traffic, phones, lawnmowers, trucks, jets and people.

The neighbours next door (none / 0) (#3)

When I was pregnant, new people moved into the townhouse next door. This is the townhouse on the side where the bedrooms of each townhouse join eachother. When these new people moved in, they decided 'oh won't it be fun to not make any noise all day and then play guitar REALLY LOUDLY and sing REALLY LOUDLY til 11 o'clock at night (at a minimum)! This went on for awhile.. and happened EVERY night. We told the managers of the complex (and I just couldn't handle it, being pregnant and constantly tired, my partner did shift work) and eventually the neighbours calmed down. They still make some nights hell occasionally though. yes, let's talk and yell and play music etc. so goddamn loudly til 11 at night.. doesn't matter that there are neighbours in the adjoining place with an 8 month old..

..I don't mind the occasional house party etc. because hey, that happens. But every night? Nah..

..Lucky we are moving soon. YAY!!
